Root Canal and Tooth Extraction
Just the thought of having a root canal or extraction can be scary for many people, we understand those fear and anxiety and want you to know we’re here to help.
Many people are scared of root canals or and extraction because they misunderstand the procedure or they think about the pain of the not the procedure itself. The reality is its all in the mind—in fact, both dental treatment can relieve the pain.
Why you need Root Canals?
A root canal is needed when decay or trauma has reached the innermost portion of your tooth. When a deep cavity penetrates this inner part of your tooth, the first thing you will probably notice is pain that does not go away.
Once the infection or damage has reached this stage, a root canal is the only treatment option left to provide you with relief. If we don’t perform a root canal, the tooth may need to be extracted or the pain will just continue and worsen.
Unfortunately, many people do not have the luxury of planning root canal treatment in advance. Circumstances sometimes make it necessary to perform a root canal without any prior planning at all.
We are flexible with our scheduling, and we can accommodate you and your family if an emergency arises. If you’re in pain, we’ll do our best to treat you the same day
We want you to enjoy a healthy, happy smile for as long as possible, so we focus on treatments and services that preserve the health and structure of your teeth. There are times, however, when we’ve looked at every possible solution and removal of a tooth is the healthiest, most sensible option.
The idea of losing a tooth is certainly upsetting. You are losing a tooth you thought you’d have for a long time. You also have to deal with the thought of going through the procedure itself.
You can be confident knowing you are in good hands with the skilled team.
Why you need Tooth Extraction
In some cases, it is necessary to remove a tooth on an emergency basis. Examples would be a dental trauma or severe root canal infection. However, there are a number of other reasons for extracting a tooth:
- We have exhausted all options for saving a severely decayed tooth.
- A root canal is severely infected and cannot be treated any other way.
- Wisdom teeth threaten the alignment of neighboring teeth.
- We’re planning full or partial dentures and need to remove one or more teeth.
- We're preparing orthodontic treatment for children.
